Let me introduce myself. . .
Hi, I'm Mrs Hutchings. I grew up in Davis County and graduated from Clearfield High School. I attended Weber State and BYU and graduated from BYU in 1997 with a bachelors degree in Family and Consumer Sciences. When I was on track for graduation, a job came open at Provo High School and I applied, and got the job immediately out of college. I was single when I graduated, in spite of popular belief, you do not get your money back if you don't get your M-R-S degree at BYU. I had been working at Provo High School for 10 years when I finally met my wonderful husband, Jason Hutchings. We got engaged in the Fall of 2006 and amidst my students, I constructed my wedding dress, during our sewing parties, and getting ready for the Make it With Wool Competition, in 2006. . . I got married in December, over Christmas break.
That same scool year we commenced with our 3rd time New York Field Study in April of 2007.
Because of the unique nature of the program at Provo High School, I have helped students get accepted into the Top Design Schools in the nation, including
Parsons, FIT, and FIDM
These schools were also attended by
Calvin Klein, Donna Karan (DKNY), etc..
. . . . .
I have enjoyed staying connected with my students, and seeing them move on to do great things with their lives. I might be biased, but I feel like being a teacher is second to motherhood, and was my greatest fulfillment until I had my own family. My heart has become very attached to the kids in Provo, and I absolutely love working with these students. I have done many things throughout my career here in Provo School District, but of all the things I have done, the thing I treasure the most is the amazing relationships I have formed with my students.
I absolutely love teaching, and I love the subjects I teach. With the birth of my two children in the past two years, I felt it necessary to make an adjustment to my career, and thus have chosen to shift directions a little. So, difficult as it was to leave my established program at the High School, I am very excited to be at Dixon Middle School this year and to continue to work with the students in Provo.
